Still Shining: Revisiting the Women’s Pavilion at Georgia Tech, USA
Monday 16th February 2026
During a recent visit to the United States, Arcus Wire Group Marketing Consultant Julie Spinks took the opportunity to visit the Women’s Pavilion at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, USA, to see first-hand how the striking stainless steel installation continues to shine as a welcoming and inspiring space for students and visitors alike.
Almost one year from the official opening in March 2025, and despite a very cold winter’s day in Atlanta, Julie captured some stunning photos of this engaging and captivating space – beautifully nestled into the campus and framed by the city skyline.
“From Arcus Wire Group’s Australian head office, I saw the ingenuity and passion of the team as they collaborated with the architect and strategic partners to manufacture, deliver and install the Pavilion. To have the opportunity to visit the Pavilion and see it shining in the winter sun was amazing. It’s no surprise the team’s efforts were recognised with the ASSDA 2025 Stainless Steel Fabricator Project of the Year award.” – Julie Spinks
Designed by artist and architect Merica May Jensen, the Pavilion features 3,000 stainless steel tiles intricately connected within a cable net structure comprising hamma® stainless steel cables, Teufelberger-Redaelli structural cables and Macuch Steel columns.
Incorporating micro-stories etched into the mirrored surface, each tile celebrates the remarkable achievements of Georgia Tech alumni and reflects the institution’s enduring legacy of excellence.
Spanning over 200 feet (approximately 61 metres), the Women’s Pavilion showcases three powerful movements: a bench holding the past, a banner carrying alumnae ambassadors, and a canopy sheltering the future.

Installation was delivered by Bespoke Wire and Rope, who fabricated and installed each individual cable on site. Using mobile rigging equipment and a local franna crane, the artworks were temporarily suspended while cables were manufactured and installed in situ. This approach allowed for exact cable lengths, fine adjustment during installation and reduced risk compared to pre-fabricated assemblies.
