CELEBRATING THE OFFICIAL OPENING OF THE NEW WOMEN’S PAVILION AT THE GEORGIA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, USA

Monday 14th April 2025

Congratulations to Design Artist and Architect Merica May Jensen from gray_matter(s) and the Georgia Institute of Technology, USA on the successful opening of the new Women’s Pavilion in March 2025.

The Project

Featuring 3,000 stainless steel tiles intricately connected within a cable net structure, the living installation incorporates micro-stories etched into the mirrored tiles. Each stainless steel tiles celebrates the incredible achievements of Georgia Tech alumni, reflecting the institution’s legacy of innovation and excellence.

Spanning over 200 feet (approximately 61 meters), the new Women’s Pavillion features three movements: a bench holding the past; a banner carrying alumnae ambassadors; and a canopy sheltering the future.

Take a look at the 3D video which showcases the stunning design and provides a window into the project’s ambitious scope and intricate beauty.

CABLE NET STRUCTURE

At the heart of the project is a unique Cable Net structure which features custom solutions designed and delivered by our team specifically for this project with support from our global partners.

The custom solutions include bespoke artworks, artwork clamps, and edge clamps. In addition, the use of hamma® stainless steel wire and fittings – known for their industry leading quality – ensure the structure’s durability and aesthetic appeal.
