Arcus wire group announces groundbreaking collaboration for new arbour at georgia tech

In an exciting development, Arcus Wire Group, in partnership with hamma Architectural Inc, is thrilled to announce its collaboration with architect Merica May Jensen from gray_matter(s) and The Georgia Institute of Technology on a visionary new project in Atlanta, USA. This innovative venture aims to construct a new arbour at Georgia Tech, marking a significant milestone in the intersection of art, technology, and engineering.
The forthcoming arbour will stretch over 200 feet (approximately 61 meters) and is designed to support 2,500 stainless steel artworks. These pieces will celebrate the incredible achievements of Georgia Tech alumni, reflecting the institution’s legacy of innovation and excellence. A 3D video showcasing the stunning design of the arbour has been released, providing a glimpse into the project’s ambitious scope and the intricate beauty of the design.
At the heart of this project is the unique Cable Net structure, a testament to the collaborative effort between Arcus Wire Group and hamma Architectural Inc. Both entities have pooled their expertise to assist with the design, product development, manufacture, supply, and installation of this distinctive feature. The project highlights the ability to deliver custom solutions, with the development of bespoke artworks, artwork clamps, and edge clamps crafted specifically for this initiative. The use of hamma® stainless steel wire and fittings, known for their industry-leading quality, ensures the structure’s durability and aesthetic appeal.
Scheduled for completion in Fall 2024, the project promises to be a landmark installation at Georgia Tech. The collaboration underscores Arcus Wire Group’s commitment to innovation and excellence in architectural design and construction.
The design and execution of this project involve a multidisciplinary team, including Architect / Artist Merica May Jensen of gray_matter(s), Silman Engineering, Maffeis Engineering, Shear Engineering for structural engineering, Breedlove Land Planning for landscape design, Tillotson Design Associates for lighting, and several other partners contributing to content, graphics, and website design.
Support from Georgia Tech staff, including Jennifer Rogers, Jody Thompson, Alex McGee, Janet Kinard, Jason Gregory, and Leslie Sharp, alongside donor Andrea Laliberte, has been instrumental in bringing this project to fruition.
