Arcus Wire Group continues to set new standards for the Stainless steel wire rope industry.

Back in the mid 80’s, the Stainless Steel Wire Rope Industry introduced coloured reels, such as silver, green, brown or orange, to distinguish their brands. So Arcus decided on blue.

Arcus was heavily involved with distributing Galvanised Wire Ropes from KISWIRE (Korean Iron and Steel), in fact Arcus was the first in Australia to recognise the Korean quality. All of the Arcus/KIS Galvanised reels were yellow. When Arcus decided to extend the range of Wire ropes to include Stainless Steel, we chose KOS (Koreas Original Stainless), which, at the time, was part of the KISwire family. This is how Arcus Wire Group (AWG) became the first Australian wire rope company to import their wire from Korea and paint the reels blue. This obviously was considered to represent quality by all in the industry, for as we now know, it appears that most of our competitors decided on blue also. As they say “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery”.

In 2004 ASSDA (Australian Stainless Steel Development Association) published a technical report showing the value of recycling Stainless, due to its 100% recyclability and its valuable raw materials, making it an excellent environmental performer.In late 2017, the R & D team, along with Dani in Marketing, looked at ways to help lessen the impact on the environment: Our “Non-Recyclable Packaging” was a stumbling block. Although the painted reels looked good, the paint excluded it from being recyclable.

Fast forward to today and AWG is again leading the way, in a world where we all need to do our bit to help save the planet. AWG has chosen to do away with the blue painted Stainless Reels, and we have also removed the white Corflute plastic covers, which have been replaced with natural cardboard covers. With the quantity of reels supplied, this definitely adds up in the reduction of plastics used.

AWG does not accept the plastic Din spools as supplied by some in the industry. As an organic material, wood is eminently recyclable or compostable, Any “clean” used wood that is untreated, unstained and unpainted can be recycled. This includes plywood.
